The N word strikes again.....Hecklers can be brutal
especially when you are a "comic genius" like Kramer
unfortunatly he wasn't Kramer that night. He was
Michael Richards doing "stand-up" in a comedy club
where he decovered his true self. Now he has to do
some intense personal work to rid himself of the
affliction of racism. I saw racism when I was in jail
and I wrote about it in my book the I-Chong. One
inmate was so racist he refused to sit on the same
toilets as the other black and brown inmates so he did
his business in the showers!
Michael Richards needs forgivness for his "sins" and
the only thing we can do is forgive and forget. This
by the way is for our own good. Michael was insulated
by the hand-picked audiences for the twelve years he
was on Seinfelt so his comedy was not only accepted
but loved for 12 years! That could spoil a comedian
into thinking everything he does is a comedic gem. The
real world of comedy, however, can be brutal,
especially in a comedy club where anybody can yell
anything at the comic even heckling is discouraged by
the club owners. Some comics entire act depends on
"exchanges with the audiences....I saw Michael before
he became Kramer and he reminded me of Andy Kaufman
another wierd genius. You have to "go into their
world" to fully understand where they are coming from
and to some people that is too much to ask. The
hecklers are people who would like to be able to stand
on the stage and perform but are usually to "chicken".
I was one of those people. I was a "heckler". I
remember hecling Charles Barkley at a Clippers game.
We were sitting ringside and I got under Barkley's
skin so bad the guy next to me told me to shut up
becauiise Barkley didn't know where the heckling was
coming from and the guy didn't want to get hurt. I
learned to keep my mouth shut in prison...You don't
heckle in prison unless you want to die!
I have a feeling that we won't be seeing Michael
Richards on stage anytime soon...He insulted and
challanged a whole lot of folks who I am sure would be
sitting in the first row heckling their ass off! Again
though the key to enlightment is through
forgivness...Forgive them Father for they know not
what they do!...tc

Heckling is definetly a hard thing to deal with...and I admit that if you use the N word you know you opening a can of worms. Racism is a horrific thing... and it it is great that we can say that now, cuz it was so accepted for so long. Thats why when people talk about the evils of tv and radio that I disagree... it has opened a lot of eyes and minds.
Some day maybe we will all get along til then it is still good and we are still learning (some faster than others)
I agree with the answer is forgivness ...When we can forgive ourselves we will get over what everyone else is doing... and further to realize we are one and there is no one else.
I was in jail for a while too and there is a lot of racism but I have to say the racist people were the only ones (for the most part)
suffering from it. It was the early 80s when I was in and I saw people having problems but most got along fine if they would just shut up and get along.
I feel kind of bad for someone who has that in their mind.
My dad is very racist and I am so glad I didn't "inherit it" from him even though I have a daughter who I heard use the N word not to long ago .... I asked her why she gave me the same bs I always hear Some black guy screwed me and my boyfreind over bla bla ...I asked her if she had ever been screwed over by a white person she said yeah but... so I dont know how we can heal ourselves but I hope it is soon.

I never really thought of comedy as being racist. I've been doing comedy, some stand up,some roasts some just plain entertaining at peoples houses bars or where ever since I was 4 years of age.Im 49 now. But I can tell you this. I was the only Italian kid in my school along with my brothers and sister whom were told every Italian joke there is. I tell Italian jokes because they are funny not because I believe them. I have many Blacks and Mexicans Pollocks laugh their asses off at them. But when I tell jokes about their race they bcome all offended. You wont find SWP on my skin because I dont think like that, but I wont let anyone depict how I tell jokes and we should be exepmt. Hecklers get what they get They are there to disrupt a man working trying to make others smile. I dont go to their job and say Hey are them fries hot there burger boy? Hecklers are punks. When I was growing up their were blacks and N's as we shall say. We call either by this derogatory remark. We just knew who was a nice person and who was not. I dont walk on water and Im betting Mike Richards nor Mel Gibson do either. Im also pretty sure that alot of black people dont say Here comes that cute little white man again. If this was a perfect world we wouldnt have alot of what is going on. But somehow I feel fingered as Im white by tag of us government and Im a bad person because Whitey enslaved the blacks. Well my family didnt get here until 1900 and if were going to point fingers and cast first stones because of my skin color I say What about the lions we were fed to for entertainment back in Rome. So Michael Richards appologised I'll except it. If the black people dont its on them. They dont appologized for anything they say regarding white people. White men cant jump, White people have no rythmn, Homey Da Clown (Damon Wayons)(Chris Rock comes to mind also)Bill Cosby himself has been known to say stuff about whites. This is all shot at white people and yet noone yells about it. Buddy Holly first white dude at the Apollo. He was excepted because music is an interntional language. Play a song for us Tom in the next movie. Keep the Peace. Maybe you can revise we are the world. But I know when Im called home I will have a clear conscience because Im a comedian not a Jackass. Im only a Jackass when some one tells me what I can and can not say or do. All the rest slides off my shoulders So in all fairness, Why do flies have wings?? Give up? Michael Richards used to be on a sketch comedy show on ABC with Andy Kauffman. Richards would get into fights with Andy and storm out. Andy was fired because of Richards. After that, the ratings plummeted. Richards has always been difficult.

I agree with you.....they can throw the "N" word around like it's no big deal but because they hurt someone else's feelings and he accidnetally uses that word it's "some big crime". Why don't you just find a corner and CRY. They provoked him! I DO NOT condon rasism of any kind to any nationality. I think at one time all nationalities have had their own "issues". I say yes Michael should appologize for his rantigs but,the hecklers too should also appologize. It take time to prepare for each and every show, and to be distracted while trying to perform and unscripted performance must be tough and upsetting to the performer. Would you just insult a perfect stranger in the middle of the street and not expect a punch in the face????????. NO MONEY should be given to these people either.....they are just being opportunists. He didn't seek them out and start into them. I am sure there were many other african-americans (along with other races) in the audience who weren't being rude and letting the others enjoy the show and kept their comments to themselves
