daily report from the Chong
Ok It is Wed.Nov 15th./06 I am back home in my office
blogging away! I am a bit upset because I threw the
I-Ching coins and it told me i have ego problems...Man
I thought I had solved that problem but I guess I
haven't. Working on it though! The gig in Tampa went
great! All the shows were packed with old fans, new
fans and book fans! Shelby's set killed! She is
getting too good! But that's o.k because i help write
her stuff so I get a thrill when the bits work! Comedy
is hard man...dying is easy! I read Bill Hicks bio on
the way there and back ( to Tampa). Hicks was a genius
comic man! So much soul and so hip! Hicks changed the
face of comedy! If you haven't seen him check out any
of his dvds. The one called Relentless is my favorite
but they are all good. Hicks died young ( age 32) I
guess from the heavy partying....I met him juct months
before he passed away. I was appearing at Stanford and
Son's Comedy Club in Kansas City and Hicks and his
friend were eating their way across America going to
all the great rib joints! I guess he knew then that
his time was short. I had heard about him but I never
seen him perform. I am a big Hicks fan now though...
I was hoping I would have some great news from the
Cheech and Chong camp however, Cheech is in Mexico
shooting a movie and hasn't gotten back to me about an
offer we recieved. Anyway, I am not holding my
breath..Shelby and I( work at Irvine, Ca this coming
week-end! Come on by and check us out! See how Hicks
has influnced me! It is pretty exciting!....tc

This is what you've all been waiting for. Cheech and Chong Dot Com has signed an agreement with Warner Music Group to re-release two long lost Cheech and Chong albums,

We have the largest
selection of Cheech and Chong merchandise on the web. Our store is
packed with brand new shirts, fuzzy dice, action figures and much,
much more. Some shirts are now in
XXL.

Did ya crack up over Bobby Chong BBQ sauce? Maybe those I-ching coins were lying about your ego problem. What do they know? Show off's! I think you'd like life better if ya use Wa-ching balls. Certainly can't be as bad as the others. But then maybe again the
I-ching balls were right. You did say Shelby's knockin em dead and then grabbing a piece of the ego action by stating you helped write her stuff. Who knows? All that I know is Comedy is great no matter where it comes from. I crack me up all the time. Now all I have to do is get paid for it. Comon' back to Nor Cal (Sacramento) Punch line and lets have some laughs. Dinner on me if ya do. Includes beautifuls dinner of course and my sweetie of course.( The one who went on secret missions to support you) Might as well my cat just played me for a sucker faking he was dying so he could go get some good drugs at the hotel happiness Loomis Vetrenary Clinic. He stayed three days and then bitched about coming home. Cost me 1400 bucks this week to find out. He just didnt want to eat and all we need was to give him some drugs to eat. When I was growing up we used pot for wanting to eat. One good number and you got the munchies. next time the lil bastard gets a joint instead of a nice looking vet nurse. Isn't Cheech in New Mexico shooting that movie about the 1957 baseball team? I think it was moved from like Tennesse because of lack of crew. Didn't know it was in Mexico or was part in each place? Hi Shelby!

All we can do is wait and hope for the best as far as Cheech goes. I hope everything works out and you 2 Vatos, and you make a great film. I know you will find a place for Shelby in the film because is really funny. I really believe that things will eventually work out.

Hey Tommy
You and Shelby definetly killed in Tampa...
As far as ego problems I think we all battle them to some degree.
and comedy is definetly hard ...I have done some stand up (and plan on doing more)and have had really good ones where it was just working really well and then again I have had gigs where I just can't seem to find my funny.
I think it is a relax and enjoy issue with me ...
The times I was best was when there were people right up front to relate with and see there faces and fuck with them and the times I sucked was when people were hanging back in the back and not relating well cuz of the distance.
I am always trying to get my act a little further so I'll check out Bill Hicks ...(any advice about comedy from Tommy Chong I will take) cuz you are one funny dude!!
I am mostly a musician with comedic tendencies ...
I can play any instrument you put in front of me...but it has always been a challenge to make people laugh when I want to , I can do it by accident all day long.
I still keep on pluggin at it.
Keep em laughin... Tell Shelby Raylene Russ and Rudy said High!!!
I'm holding my breath still about you and Cheech
I will keep praying for you too!!!

Hey Tommy,
Kinda sounds like Cheech has got a taco stuffed up his butt? Does he not want the mass revenue that another Cheech & Chong movie would generate? Making a movie today would be a Highly financial smart endeavor. You guys are both icons, included within several generations. Surely he’s not concerned about reputation, is he? It’s comedy, for God’s sake!
Anyway, I hope all is well with you and yours. Take care.

Hi, Tommy,
I recently read your book, and just wanted to say, wow, you really had some profound nuggets of wisdom, and I enjoyed reading it very much.

Dear Tommy,
'Scuse me while I blow a little air out of my head . . .
As I understand it, the ego is really nothing more, or less, than the story one tells oneself about oneself.
It seems to me the humbling that you spoke about is really a kind of re-adjustment of the ego to fit reality. You know . . . Humility is really just knowing who you most truly are.
I don't want to mess with your ego but, you are funny, intelligent, wise, and gifted (blessed even, believe it or not) in ways that are, maybe, not as common as they should be. And I hope you know that you are known and loved by millions.
I have never had to deal with fame. But, from what I've seen, fame is kinda like booze for the ego. Even if you can handle it, you have to be careful or you'll wake up naked in Bangkok with an ass tattoo of a Speedo-clad Dick Cheney, and man, that's gonna mess with ya.
Well, enough of my squeekin'. All the best.
Peace and Love

Tommy,
Did you ever get the chance to see any Las VEgas Shows where people like Red Foxx or Buddy Hackett did comedy? As people in the square world you really dont get to see the real deal. Hackett was funny as hell and Foxx's Sanford and son will stand the tests of time. But Las Vegas shows were totally different. These were the best of the best. Its kind of like the friars club only filthier. I was lucky enough back in time when I was pounding nails to get to work for Honey Bruce. She gave me some belongings that belong to Lenny just before she moved to Hawaii. Trivia: Red Foxx(John Elroy Sanford) made the first dirty record ever. It was called YOU GOT TO WASH YO ASS! http://laughstore.stores.yahoo.net/refoyougoway.html Link to cd of You gotta wash your ass! Check it out Tom!

Hi Tommy,
I agree man... Bill Hicks was a friggin' genius! I've been a Hicks fan for years now, though unfortunately I didn't discover his stuff until after he died (pancreatic cancer, by the bye.)
I think my favorite recorded performance of his so far is on the "Sane Man" DVD that came out earlier this year (or was it late last year?) If you haven't seen it, head on down to Borders or pop onto Amazon and snag a copy! The Hendrix bit alone is enough to get me laughing just thinking about it.
Take care,
Patrick
